Prayer 101 - The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin
Mary, that never was it known that
anyone who fled to thy protection,
implored thy help, or sought thy
intercession, was left unaided.
inspired with this confidence
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of Virgins,
my Mother, to thee I come;
before thee I stand, sinful and
sorrowful. O Mother of the Word
Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in thy clemency hear and answer
me. Amen.

Prayer 102 - We did not see you close your eyes,
We did not see you die,
All we knew was that you were gone,
Without a last goodbye.
It was a sudden parting,
Too bitter to forget,
Only those who loved you,
Are the ones who will never forget.
The happy hours we once enjoyed,
How sweet their memory still,
But death has left a vacant place,
This world can never fill.
Your life was one of kindly deeds,
A helping hand for others’ needs,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.

Prayer 103 - Prayer to Our Lady of Knock
Our lady of Knock Queen of Ireland,
you gave hope to your people in a time
of distress and comforted them in sorrow.
You have inspired countless pilgrims to pray
with confidence to your divine Son,
remembering His promise: “ask and you
shall receive, seek and you shall find”.
Help me to remember that we are all pilgrims
on the road to heaven. Fill me with love and
concern for my brothers and sisters in Christ,
especially those who live with me.
Comfort me when I am sick or lonely
or depressed. Teach me how to take part
ever more reverently in the holy Mass.
Pray for me now,
and at the hour of my death. Amen.

a dawning,
No Winter without a Spring,
And beyond death’s
dark horizon
Our hearts once more will sing -
For those who leave us

Prayer 106 - Togetherness
Death is nothing at all - i have only slipped
away into the next room. Whatever we were to
each other, that we are still. Call me by my old
familiar name, speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes
we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
let my name be the household word
that it always was. Let it be spoken without
effort. Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was, there is
absolutely unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of your sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. nothing is past; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was
before - only better, infinitely happier
and forever - we will all be one together

Prayer 107 - Remembering
Everybody loves to be remembered,
But if we want to be remembered,
we have a duty also to remember.
Memory is a powerful thing.
Wrongly used it can bring death
rather than life.
Rightly used it is a form of immortality.
It keeps the past alive.
Those we remember never die.
They continue to walk with and talk with us.
Their influence is still felt among us.
There is nothing stronger or more
helpful than a good remembrance.
Mother, we want you to know that
we haven’t forgotten you.
We remember you, and your memory
most definitely brings life to us today.
May it also assure us of life for you,
that eternal life Christ came to earth
to give to us.

Prayer 108 - Lonely is the home without you,
Life to us is not the same;
All the world would be like heaven,
If we could have you back again.
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our home,
That never can be filled.
May the God of love and Mercy,
Care for our loved one who is gone;
And bless with consolation,
Those left to carry on.

Prayer 109 - Footprints

One night I had a dream... I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life, There was only one set of footprints.

I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, You would walk with me all the way; But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, There is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why in times when I needed you the most, you should leave me.

The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.

Prayer 110 - May He support us all the day
long until the shadows lengthen
and the evening comes and the
busy world is hushed and the
fever of life is over and our work
is done: then in His mercy may
He give us a safe lodging and
a holy rest and peace at last.

Prayer 111 - It was a sudden parting,
Too bitter to forget,
Those who loved you dearly,
Are the ones who can’t forget.
We often sit and think of you,
And think of how you died,
To think you could not say goodbye,
Before you closed your eyes.
The blow was hard, the shock severe,
To part with one we loved so dear,
Our loss is great, we’ll not complain,
But trust in God to meet again.
Two tired eyes are sleeping,
Two willing hands are still,
The one who worked so hard for us,
Is resting at God’s will.
Our family chain is broken,
Nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The links shall join again.

Prayer 112 - God grant me the
Serenity
to accept the things
I cannot change...

to know the difference.

Prayer 113 - When I Must Leave You
When I must leave you
for a little while,
Please do not grieve
and shed wild tears,
And hug your sorrow
to you through the years,
But start out bravely
with gallant smile,
And for my sake and in my name,
Live on and do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways,
Reach out your hand
in comfort and cheer,
And I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near.
And never, never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky.

Prayer 114 - O Jesus in Thy infinite mercy
and through the prayers of the
Blessed Mother of Sorrows,
have compassion on the poor
suffering souls in Purgatory.
Oh! bring comfort to them in
their pains, shorten their exile,
and conduct them finally into
Thy Heavenly Kingdom,
where with Thy Saints
and Angels they shall praise
and glorify Thee for all eternity. Amen.

Prayer 115 - Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond’s glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken
In the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,

Prayer 116 - Miss Me But let Me Go
When I come to the
end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in
a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love
that we once shared
Miss me, but let me go.
When you are lonely
and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrow
in doing good deeds

Prayer 117 - God called your name
so softly,
That only you could hear;
And no one heard the
Footsteps,
Of angels drawing near.
The golden gates stood open,
God saw you needed rest;
His garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.

Prayer 118 - You can only have one mother,
Patient, kind and true,
No other friend in the world,
Will be the same to you.
When other friends forsake you,
To mother you will return,
For all her loving kindness,
She asks nothing in return.
As we look upon her picture,
Sweet memories we recall,
Of a face so full of sunshine,
And a smile for one and all.
Sweet Jesus take this message,
To our dear mother up above,
Tell her how we miss her,
And give her all our love.

Prayer 119 - After Glow
I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an after glow of
smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo,
whispering softly down the ways.
Of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that I leave
when life is done.

Prayer 120 - Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on,
Could I have no doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust our Father’s Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth -
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.
When that work is all completed
He will gently call you Home,
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come.

Prayer 121 - Prayer of Saint Patrick
Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, and in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

Prayer 122 - Prayer to St. Thérèse
O glorious Saint Thérèse, whom almighty
God has raised up to aid and counsel mankind,
I implore your Miraculous Intercession.
So powerful are you in obtaining every need
of body and soul our Holy Mother Church
proclaims you a "Prodigy of Miracles...
the Greatest Saint of Modern times."
Now I fervently beseech you to answer my
petition (mention specifics here) and to carry
out your promises of spending Heaven doing
good upon the earth...of letting fall
from Heaven a Shower of Roses.
Henceforth, dear Little Flower,
I will fulfill your plea "to be made known
everywhere" and I will never cease to lead
others to Jesus through you. Amen

That thou wilt be there.

Prayer 124 - Prayer for the Intercession
of St. Pio of Pietrelcina
Dear God, You generously
blessed Your servant,
St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
with the gifts of the Spirit.
You marked his body with the five wounds
of Christ Crucified, as a powerful witness
to the saving Passion and Death of Your Son.
Endowed with the gift of discernment,
St. Pio laboured endlessly in the confessional
for the salvation of souls.
With reverence and intense devotion
in the celebration of Mass,
He invited countless men and women
to a greater union with Jesus Christ
in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
Through the intercession
of St. Pio of Pietrelcina,
I confidently beseech you to grant me
the grace of (here state your petition). Amen.

Prayer 125 - Prayer to St. Anthony
O glorious St. Anthony, safe refuge of the
afflicted and distressed. Who by miraculous
revelation has directed all those who seek aid to
come to Thy altar with the promise that
whosoever visits it for nine consecutive
Tuesdays, and there piously invokes Thee,
will feel the power of Thy intercession.
I, a poor sinner, encouraged by this promise,
come to Thee, O powerful Saint,
and with a firm hope I implore Thy aid,
Thy protection, Thy counsel and Thy blessing.
Obtain for me, I beseech Thee, my request in
this necessity. But if it should be opposed to
the will of God and the welfare of my soul,
obtain for me such other graces as
shall be conducive of my salvation.
Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Prayer 126 - Novena to St. Brigid
O Glorious St. Brigid,
Patroness of Ireland and Mother
of the Churches,
protect the Irish Church
and preserve the true Faith
in every Irish Heart,
at home and abroad.
Obtain for us the grace to walk
faithfully in the path of
Christian perfection during life,
and so to secure
a holy and happy death,
with life everlasting,
in thy blessed company,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

They’re worthless on their own.
And as I kneel before you,
Speak to your Son for me,
Though poor and small my offering,
I know ‘tis dear to thee.
For you, your Son at Cana,
Changed water into wine,
The needs of bride and bridegroom,
Were small compared to mine.
And so, my Mother Mary,
I lay before Thy feet,
My fears, my hopes, my longings,
My bitter hours and sweet.

Prayer 129 - Comfort for those who Mourn.
 The great and sad mistake of many people,
among them even pious persons, is to imagine
that those whom death has taken leave us.
They do not leave us, they remain! - Where are
they? in darkness? Oh, no! it is we who are in
darkness.
 We do not see them, but they see us. Their
eyes, radiant with glory, are fixed upon our eyes
full of tears. Oh! infinite consolation! though
invisible to us, our dear dead are not absent.
 I have often reflected upon the surest comfort
for those who mourn. It is this: a firm faith in the
real and continual presence of our loved ones; it
is clear and penetrating conviction that death has
not destroyed them, nor carried them away.
 They are not even absent, but living near to
us, transfigured: having lost in their glorious
change no delicacy of their souls, no tenderness
of their hearts, nor especial preference in their
affection; on the contrary, having in depth and
fervour of devotion, grown larger a hundredfold.
Death is for the good, a translation into light,
into power, into love.
 Those who on earth were only ordinary
Christians, become good; those who were good

become sublime.

Prayer 130 - The Divine Weaver.
Man’s life is laid in a loom of time
To a pattern he does not see.
While the Weaver works and the shuttles fly
Until the end of eternity.
Some shuttles are filled with silver thread,
And some with threads of gold;
While often but the darker hue
Is all that they may hold.
But the weaver watches with skillful eye
Each shuttle fly to and fro,
And sees the pattern so deftly wrought
As the loom works sure and slow.
God surely planned that pattern
Each thread - the dark and the fair -
Was chosen by his master skill
And placed in the web with care.
He only knows the beauty
And guides the shuttles which hold
The threads so unattractive
As well as the threads of gold.
Not until the loom is silent,
And the shuttles cease to fly
Shall God unroll the pattern
And explain the reason why
The dark threads are as needful
As the threads of gold and silver
In the pattern he had planned.

Prayer 131 - They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal;
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way we feel.
For no-one knows the heartache,
That lies behind our smiles;
No one knows how many times,
We have broke down and cried.
Gone from home that smiling face,
Those cheerful, happy ways;
The heart that won so many friends,
In bygone, happy days.
We want to tell you something,
So there won’t be any doubt;
You’re so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to do without.
We cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together;
The family chain is broken,
But memories live forever.

Prayer 132 - Think of stepping on the shore
and finding Heaven;
Of taking hold of a hand
and finding it God’s hand;
Of breathing a new air
and finding it celestial air;
Of feeling invigorated
and finding it immortality;
Of passing from storm and
tempest to an unknown calm;
Of waking -
and finding you’re Home.

Prayer 133 - Far Horizon.
We seem to give them back to Thee o God,
who gavest them to us. But as
Thou didst not lose them in giving,
so do we not lose them on their return.
Not as the world giveth, givest Thou
O Lover of souls. What Thou givest
Thou takest not away, for what is Yours,
is ours also if we are Thine, and life is
eternal and love is immortal and death
is only an horizon and an horizon is
nothing save the limit of our sight.
Lift us up, strong son of God, that we
may see more clearly, draw us closer to Thyself,
that we may be nearer to our loved one
who is with Thee. And while Thou dost prepare
a place for us, prepare us for that happy
place, that where Thou art we may be also for evermore.
Amen.

Prayer 134 - We lost a mother with a heart of gold,
How much we miss her can never be told,
She shared our troubles and helped us along,
If we follow her footsteps,
We can never go wrong.
What she suffered she told but few,
She did not deserve what she went through,
Tired and weary she made no fuss,
But tried so hard to stay with us.
We prayed for a miracle but all in vain,
That God would make you well again,
But God knew best, we had to part,
It eased your pain but broke our hearts.
We cannot bring the old days back
When we were all together,
The family chain is broken now,
But memories live forever.
She was a mother so very rare,
Content in her home and always there,
On earth she toiled, in heaven she rests,
God bless you Mother,
You were one of the best.

Prayer 135 - There comes a time
for all of us
When we must say goodbye,
But faith and hope
And love and trust
Can never, never die.
Although the curtain falls at last
Is that a cause to grieve?
The future’s fairer than the past
If only we believe.
Trust in God’s eternal care –
So when the Master calls
Let’s say that life is still more fair
Although the curtain falls.

Prayer 136 - Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent those beautiful flowers,
if so we saw them there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,
as any friend could say.
Perhaps you were not there at all,
just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to console our hearts,
we thank you so much,
for whatever the part.
